Bomberman fans, a new Bomberman game is coming to the Nintendo Switch! Announced during today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Super Bomberman R is getting a sequel. Simply called Super Bomberman R 2, this title will include a new story mode with exploration, base building, defense and strategy, and boss battles. Plus, a new battle mode was shown off today.
Castle Mode will pit a team of 15 players against 1. Band together to raid the castle’s treasure chests, but you’ll have to maneuver the defenses installed by the castle’s defender and avoid their attacks. Other features, like building and sharing battle maps and the 64-player Battle Royale mode, have also been confirmed for R 2’s release. To partake in the online matches, Nintendo has confirmed that you’ll need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Super Bomberman R 2 will be released on Nintendo Switch and other consoles sometime in 2023. By then, it’ll be filling the gap that Super Bomberman Online leaves behind when the free-to-play release shutdowns later this year.
