They say Pokémon is pretty popular. We previously had no way of verifying whether or not this is true (source: trust me), but now The Pokémon Company has released some numbers. Big numbers. Like, really big numbers. Apparently there have been 440 million Pokémon games sold worldwide, which like, yo, that’s a big number.

The Pokémon series is available in nine languages (Japanese, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese), which in comparison is not as big a number, but hey, that’s eight more languages than I can speak. We also got numbers for the Pokémon TCG, which has printed 43.2 billion cards, or, er, roughly six cards for every human alive on Earth. The TCG is also available in THIRTEEN languages in a staggering 77… areas? They don’t clarify what an area is. A country? A province? A region? Who knows. The Pokémon anime has also aired in 192 “areas.” This clarifies nothing!

Anyway. These numbers are surely only going to grow with time. We’ll eventually end up with 2 billion games sold and 983 trillion cards printed, assuming the human race survives to the end of the century. Which. Let’s hope.
