The Nintendo Direct format sure has taken hold over the past decade — everybody and their grandma seems to be holding a slick video game presentation stream in June these days. Case in point: the Mother Direct, a whopping 50 minutes devoted purely to Mother fan projects and Mother-inspired games (something something quirky EarthBound-inspired RPG). And one of the standouts is Mother: Encore, a Mother 3-style reimagining of the original Mother, aka EarthBound Beginnings, which got a new trailer during the Direct yesterday:

It looks truly impressive, not just incorporating graphical styling from later in the series but also little visual flourishes, overworld puzzles and objects to interact with, updated soundtrack arrangements, and so much more. Plus, the trailer was kind/clever enough to not give away anything of the later parts of the game, so the likes of Teddy, EVE, and more still have yet to be seen. You can also check out the project’s new website at MotherEncore.com. It looks super cool, and we can’t wait to see it completed!
