So pre-orders for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition were supposed to go live on the My Nintendo Store yesterday as an exclusive, presumably since the game and the actual SE contents are going to ship separately (as only revealed on the store page itself) and coordinating that with other retailers would be a headache. But the website clearly wasn’t prepared for the heavy load of traffic, because basically nobody was able to order the SE at first, leading the site to go into a maintenance it wouldn’t finish all day until NoA had to quietly announce SE pre-orders would be available later.
Pre-purchase of the Special Edition will be made available again at a later date. An update will be provided once that timing is determined.

Some folks were able to snag copies through workarounds (including Yours Truly) but the whole thing was a huge mess that people roasted and memed about all day on Twitter. Understandably so, given just how much NoA bungled it. What did they think was gonna happen? That they wouldn’t get flooded by a tsunami of customers and bots? Well, if you managed to get a copy, good on you at least. Let’s hope they do better next time.
