Over the weekend Acquire brought back the long-dormant, cult-favorite Class of Heroes series with a new entry in a different genre – Adventure Academia: The Fractured Continent.

While earlier entries in the series, released across the PSP, PS3, and 3DS, were dungeon delving RPGs, Adventure Academia instead goes down the strategy RPG route. You’ll be dropping your adorable chibi students around a grid-based map to beat up baddies in real-time. You can get a look at it in the trailer below:

Adventure Academia is in development for the Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4, and will launch in Japan on September 8th. A western release is “coming soon”.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
