Father Time comes for all things, and while most of us live in blissful ignorance of when we will shudder off this mortal coil, the same cannot be said for the likes of the video games we play. Apparently. And the clock is ticking on this beloved title — Animal Crossing: New Horizons won’t work past the year 2060. That means it has less than 40 years to go! Oh, the humanity!

Now, there may be about as much time before ACNH breaks as there has been since… uh, the release of the NES, so there will probably be another Animal Crossing game released before then. But what about the poor kids in 2064 who will want to play the “Switch” that their grandparents keep telling me about?” I mean, odds are they’ll probably be more concerned with whatever’s left of our burning planet and freshwater, along with whatever crumbling political institutions still exist, but hey, even the apocalypse could use video games. Also, you could run into the wall of the error message if you theoretically set your Nintendo Switch clock forward 40 years, but… why would you do that…?

Anyway, if you somehow want to own ACNH without owning it already, you can buy it now.
