Fans have fallen in love with Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly; but it was about time we made some new friends from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. In the latest trailer, we met five new species from this open-world adventure, ranging from early game encounters to climactic Legendary Pokémon!

Pawmi

First up was Pawmi, a new Electric type that’s filling the common niche of being inspired by Pikachu – just look at those cheeks! This Mouse Pokémon not only stores energy there, it also has special organs in its forepaws that can discharge that electricity. It’s known to rub its cheeks, and then shock opponents by touching them with those paws.

Lechonk

Our first Normal type of the game is Lechonk, the Hog Pokémon. Lechonk here is known to sniff out fragrant grasses and rich berries, and that diet has given it something of an herbal aroma that Bug types dislike. It’s also known for charging forward when frightened, and though they look like tiny chubsters all that weight is actually muscle built up from wandering around in search of food.

Smoliv

This tiny Grass/Normal type is Smoliv. It (along with Pawmi and Lechonk) is used by your friend Nemona, ensuring players will likely see them fairly early on in their adventure. The oil that seeps from Smoliv’s head is notoriously bitter and unsuitable for consumption, but can be shot at foes to slow them down when the Olive Pokémon gets frightened. That oil also stores plenty of nutrients for Smoliv, letting it go for up to a week without eating or drinking.

Koraidon and Miraidon

The final revealed Pokémon for the trailer were our box art Legendaries. Koraidon will appear in Pokémon Scarlet, while Miraidon will be in Pokémon Violet. Not a lot of details were provided on the pair beyond their names, but Miraidon notably has some futuristic and electrical motifs present in its design. Along with some other elements present in Scarlet and Violet so far, this could make them something of a past and future duo, though it could be some time before those mysteries come to light.

Trainers will be able to meet these Pokémon and many more when Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release worldwide on November 18th!
