A name can do a game wonders, often evoking some sort of feeling or expectation before you’ve begun to play. Today’s Indie World presentation had no shortage of excellent titles, but for my money there’s no better christening than that of Gunbrella

It tells you all you need to know — you’ve got a gun, and it’s also an umbrella. Sign me up immediately, but if you need a little further convincing you can have a look at the game’s trailer:

You’ll be playing as a gruff woodsman with a sweet scarf, drawn into an investigation full of ne’er do wells both banal and supernatural, and per its press release “the fallout of corporate exploitation.” Gameplay is of the 2D, side-scrolling action variety (and from the makers of the enjoyable Gato Roboto) all based around the titular Gunbrella. You’ll be able to upgrade your fabled firearm along the way to solving these mysterious happenings.

Gunbrella will make its way to Nintendo Switch in 2023 from Devolver Digital.
