The Pokémon TCG has been a staple for over two decades now, but it was only recently that it tapped into the Pokémon fandom’s endless and overwhelming supply of artistic talent, holding the Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix in 2019 and 2020 in Japan only. Now they’ve expanded the applicants to also accept US artists (which honestly still limits the applicant field) and revealed the 300 applicants out of over 10,000 who cleared the first round of judging.

Pokémon drawn for the contest include Arcanine, Cramorant, Galarian Rapidash, Greninja, Scizor, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and Charizard. As you would imagine of such an exclusive club, basically every single art piece is jaw-droppingly amazing and deserves to be checked out. I have no idea how the judges are going to narrow this down to one winner. I’m sure there were some incredible art pieces they had to pass over already. Good luck to all qualifiers in the next rounds!
