On December 18th, 2022, it’ll have been 35 years since Final Fantasy first hit the Famicom in Japan. Square Enix has already marked the occasion a few times with the announcements of the likes of Chocobo GP, Stranger of Paradise, and even a fancy new logo, but it looks like there’s even more to come.

A new official 35th Anniversary website has launched, featuring a new take on the Distant Worlds cover of the Prelude theme as background music (once enabled).

The website will be updated over the year with new messages from various people involved with the franchise, but perhaps more excitingly there’s a “Games” section. Right now it lists the aforementioned GP and Stranger of Paradise, but there’s a tantalizing “And More…” tease.

Later today PlayStation will be holding a State of Play focusing on Japanese games, so it’s likely some Final Fantasy will show up there, but there are still plenty of months left for some Direct drops.

We’ll be sure to bring you all the Switch news as it comes in.
