Most notably, indie darling and endless beta extraordinaire Skullgirls: 2nd Encore has managed to rise to main stage prominence in the wake of its recent DLC developments. The game has, in the past, instead been found on a smaller stage and as part of exhibitions. Most notably, it and Super Smash Bros. Melee were in heated competition to be a main stage game via a 2013 charity drive (that Melee won in the end).
