Most fighting game tournaments announcing their lineups don’t have announcements for said announcements, but, well… EVO is special in a few ways. The most famous fighting game tournament in the world has long turned the announcement of which games will be hosted at the tournament into an event itself, one that is playing out later today:
Join us tomorrow, March 8, for the Evo 2022 Lineup Reveal, hosted by @Sajam and @Tasty_Steve! We’ll be talking about our upcoming Aug 5-7 offline event and showcasing its tournament lineup alongside 40 special guests!
Tune in at 5pm PST on https://t.co/pRm0CRtOd0 to watch!— EVO (@EVO) March 7, 2022
As a refresher, Nintendo has already confirmed to be pulling Super Smash Bros. from the lineup (in what was probably only the sixth most controversial thing they’ve done over the past month or so), so it’s unlikely that we’ll see any other Nintendo exclusive games make the cut. But we’re definitely curious to see which fgc heavy — and featherweights make it in. Tune in at 5 p.m. PST to watch it all go down.
