With Nintendo Switch Sports shoving them aside, it’s definitely been rough going for all you Mii fans out there. Out of the shadows of Sportsmates comes a beacon of hope from an unexpected place though…

Mario Kart Tour has welcomed a whole hoard of Miis with open arms. The characters will find themselves in the mobile game, filling the hole in our hearts Miitomo left, if even just a little. Not only that, but they’re donning their Mario Kart 8 Racing Suits, including ones that were previously associated with various amiibo!

Now, Mario Kart Tour wheels out new racers fairly often, but this is no less than ten for a single tour. There are even more Mii Racing Suits on the way, too, with a second wave planned for later this month. Each suit seems to be of High-End rarity, meaning they likely won’t be given out so easily. Some will no doubt be behind the game’s random gacha mechanics, but perhaps others will be earned via objectives or be purchasable outright — be it with in-game or real world currency.

Those particular details aren’t clear at this time, but what we do know are the suits that are included in this first wave, with their Driver Skill item listed beside them:

  • Red Mii Racing Suit (Mushroom Cannon)
  • Mario Mii Racing Suit (Fire Flower)
  • Peach Mii Racing Suit (Heart)
  • Donkey Kong Mii Racing Suit (Giant Banana)
  • Luigi Mii Racing Suit (Fire Flower)
  • Toad Mii Racing Suit (Triple Mushrooms)
  • Rosalina Mii Racing Suit (Dash Ring)
  • Bronze Mii Racing Suit (Boomerang Flower)
  • Silver Mii Racing Suit (Lucky Seven)
  • Gold Mii Racing Suit (Coin Box)

Notably, each character based suit shares its item with that character. Presumably, that’ll be the case for others on the way. Yoshi, Bowser, and Wario all had suits in Mario Kart 8 and are found in Mario Kart Tour. If the door is open for other Nintendo (or even third party) cameos, we could very well see plenty more of these, or maybe ones based on previously unrepresented Mario characters. Let’s be Waluigi, all of us.

The Mii Tour will begin on March 8th at 10 p.m. PT, bringing Wave 1 and a new app icon along with it. Wave 2 will follow on March 22nd.
