One of the magical things about Pokémon is that, no matter where or how you jumped into the series, you’ll have some strong connections to the first entries you played. Now, in the lead-up to Pokémon Day, the Pokémon Company is celebrating that nostalgia with some new illustrations.

Two have been released today focusing on the first two generations. For Red & Blue we have the player picking from the iconic first trio of starters, while for Gold & Silver we can see the iconic Lake of Rage face-off with Red Gyarados, many players’ first shiny Pokémon.

More illustrations will be released up until Pokémon Day itself on Sunday, February 27th. A variety of other events and announcements are also planned.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
