The Pokémon Company is getting closer to releasing its new way to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game around the world with Pokémon TCG Live. Announced back in September 2021, TPC did also state that a mobile soft launch in Canada and a global open beta for PC and Mac would be happening the same year. Now that we’re into 2022, those plans have changed. Today, it’s been announced that players in Canada will get a limited beta for both mobile (iOS and Android) and desktop (Windows PC and macOS) versions of the game.

Starting on Tuesday, February 22nd at 12 p.m. PT, Canadian Trainers can visit Pokemon.ca/TCGL to download the desktop version of the game. The mobile versions will also be available via Apple App Store and Google Play. As a bonus, players will be able to try out the upcoming Pokémon TCG expansion, Sword & Shield–Brilliant Stars, before its official release.

For those who still play Pokémon TCG Online and partake in the limited beta, TPC promises that players will be able to enjoy cross-platform play during the beta and they’ll have the option of playing TCG Live without losing access to TCG Online. This won’t be the case when Pokémon TCG Live is officially launched later this year, as Pokémon TCG Online will be shut down.

Currently, an official global release date for Pokémon TCG Live is still unknown.
