No one is going to argue the prominence of Pokémon as a media, G-Max size juggernaut.  Pokémon Legends: Arceus may be trying something new, but in the sales department it’s firmly in step with series expectations. According to Famitsu, the Hisuian adventure has sold 1.425 million units in Japan alone during its first three days of availability.

That lands it cleanly as the second most successful Nintendo Switch launch there, after a little life-sim called Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That moved 1.881 million in its own time-frame, though don’t feel too bad for Pikachu and pals. Third place is also a Pokémon title, specifically Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl at 1.396 million.
