The ’90s and 2000’s were filled with cartoony video game mascot platformers but plenty of those franchises fell to the wayside over the past decade.

Of course in recent years there has been something of a resurgence, thanks to all-new platformers like Yooka-Laylee and revitalized classics. This latest update is firmly from the latter camp.
 

 
That’s right, Kao the Kangaroo is coming back. The boxing glove’d marsupial first made his debut on the PC and Dreamcast back in 2000 before receiving a handful of sequels and fading into obscurity. Now, after a successful social media campaign back in 2020, he’s back with a new game developed and published by the original team at Tate Multimedia.

You’ll be able to play through this retro 3D platformer in Summer 2022.
