Typically Switch Online Game Trials have been indie releases or full titles that run a bit longer, giving a taste before requiring you to pay up for the rest (if you so choose). This latest one though is an interesting get, as it’s a smaller entry in Nintendo’s own lineup, that with dedicated play can be cleared in full during the trial period.
So grab your backpack, plant your feet firmly on the ground, and set out for some diorama exploration – it’s time for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker!

This Super Mario 3D World spinoff put this plucky Toad in a starring role, and has managed to make its way to the Wii U, 3DS, and Switch. If you slept on it across those releases, now’s a perfect time to give it a try and see what you’ve been missing. It’s a charming puzzler that plays with its conventions well, and offers up some unique perspective-based challenges.
The Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch Online Game Trial is available now, and will be through January 20th. A 30% discount is also available on it for a limited time for all Switch owners, though that’ll end after January 16th.
