DLC fighters? Done. Weekly spirit and tournament events? On repeat. Nintendo game launches celebrated with themed screenshots? We still got those!

Today marks the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the awaited Gen IV remakes that take trainers back to Sinnoh. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is stepping up to mark the time (and space) by showing off a stage, fighter, and Poké Ball Pokémon that hail from the game all in one go.

That’s Spear Pillar, Lucario, and Palkia respectively. Dialga’s here too, present via its presence on the stage as a background hazard. Naturally Pikachu manages to join in, doing its mascot due diligence. Interestingly this also shows the developer (probably Sakurai) flexing their dev tools as the Poké Ball Palkia is coded not to appear on Spear Pillar in normal play.
