Pokémon GO’s Festival of Lights event kicked off last week, but Niantic had hinted that another event (or “Part 2”) would be starting up today. Looks like Team GO Rocket is getting back into their habit of crashing events, as the Festival of Lights is now joined with A Looming Shadow Returns! Be prepared for double the trouble with Team GO Rocket Grunts as well as the last two parts of Season of Mischief’s Special Research (Misunderstood Mischief). Along with all of the bonuses, Pokémon spawns, and more from the Festival of Light event, you can expect the following A Looming Shadow Returns! bonuses according to the official Pokémon GO Blog:

The Season of Mischief Story Continues!

  • With Light Comes Shadow: Team GO Rocket has decided to take over the Festival of Lights event in an attempt to take away Hoopa! Giovanni has also returned to lead this mission. It seems likely that he was watching from the shadows this entire time, studying Hoopa as we learned about it, too. There’s also rumors of another Legendary Pokémon that he’s turned into a Shadow Pokémon! Let’s stop Team GO Rocket, Trainers!
    • Use the Super Rocket Radar from this part of the Special Research to encounter Giovanni!

Giovanni returns: Giovanni has emerged from the shadows once again! He and his Shadow Pokémon might try to capture Hoopa. Defeat Giovanni to rescue Shadow Lugia!

Team GO Rocket has created more Shadow Pokémon: Team GO Rocket has been busy in the shadows. Team GO Rocket Grunts as well as their leaders—Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo—are using different Shadow Pokémon. Help Spark, Blanche, and Candela overcome their adversaries and rescue the Shadow Pokémon.

  • Team GO Rocket will begin using these Pokémon at 12:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

Bonuses: The following bonuses will be in effect during the Festival of Lights event.

  • You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
  • Team GO Rocket will appear significantly more frequently at PokéStops and in Balloons.

Hop into Pokémon GO today to battle against this wave of Team GO Rockets, and maybe even find Giovanni in the chaos. Just make sure to be safe while out in the wild playing Pokémon GO.
