As Nintendo Switch Online closes in on its third anniversary, rumors of Game Boy and Game Boy Color games being added to the service have been making the rounds over the last day.

On a recent episode of the Nate the Hate podcast, credible leaker and insider “NateDrake” discussed rumors that new legacy content would be coming to Nintendo Switch Online. In this episode of the podcast, NateDrake mentions the fact that he has heard from his sources that Switch Online’s catalog will be expanding in the near future with new systems.

Nintendo Life stepped forward to back up the rumors claiming that their own sources are saying both systems will be arriving “really soon.” Nintendo Life’s insider also noted that they were far less optimistic that Game Boy Advance would be coming to Switch Online’s catalog.

Back in 2019, a datamine revealed that Nintendo possibly had future plans to add both Game Boy and Game Boy Color games to their online catalog as additional emulators had been found in the NES Online app’s code. The emulator titled “Hiyoko” was believed to be connected to both of Nintendo’s handhelds.

When official information releases regarding Game Boy and Game Boy Color games being added to Switch Online’s catalog, we will of course be sure to let you all know.
