Fan translations are a mainstay of video game fandom at this point, with them often letting different countries experience classic games that never saw localization in certain regions.

Of course, it’s unlikely that any ancient Greeks will ever find the chance to play The Legend of Zelda, but if they ever find themselves in the modern day, at least they can play the original Legend of Zelda for the NES.

This new rom hack by user MikeGRTran5lation5 translates the games few bits of text, like the opening text crawl and NPC dialogue, into Ancient Greek. However, certain words, like “Princess”, use their modern Greek equivalents.

While it’s unlikely anyone will find this hack “useful”, it’s certainly a fun novelty that’ll make The Legend of Zelda feel more like an ancient odyssey.
