Arcades are sorely missed, both for the amusement they brought and for being the certifiably coolest place to hang out with your friends. Button City gets this, as it’s basing its entire presence on a narrative adventure built around saving your local arcade from an uncaring, greedy fat cat. Literally.

See, everyone in Button City’s low-poly Jazz cup world is a cute animal, including main character Fennel. Along the way to preserving their game center, he and his new friends will play games, solve puzzles, collect costumes, and complete quests around their diorama-like town.

I highly suggest checking out developer Subliminal’s Button City website. Not only will it give you a rundown of the featured arcade games (rhythm! racing! robots!), but there’s a Cool Zone. What’s a Cool Zone, you ask? It’s where you can find freebies, minigames, and more if you’re already liking what you’re seeing from this friendship-fueled story.

Button City will open its doors on Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam in Q3 2021.
