Diablo II: Resurrected, a “faithful remake” of the original Diablo II, will launch on Nintendo Switch and other consoles on September 23rd, 2021.

The news was revealed during this morning’s E3 2021 Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase alongside a new trailer.

Diablo II: Resurrected will take the original 2000 2D sprite-based game and update it with “full 3D physically-based rendering, dynamic lighting, revamped animations and spell effects.”

In addition, the game’s 27 minutes of cinematics are being remade shot for shot.

Diablo II: Resurrected will also allow players to freely switch back-and-forth between the remake’s modern visuals and original title’s.

Full cross-progression between supported platforms — Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S — will be supported, allowing players to take their save games wherever they want.

The remake will also allow the import of players’ decades-old Diablo II saves (but only on PC); however, with cross-progression, it will be possible to play these old original save files on other platforms, as well.
