Summer Game Fest 2021 is kicking off today, showcasing game reveals and music performances aplenty. Among them was a pre-pre show based around a game whose soundtrack Ive savored again and again, in-game and out.

Yes, I speak of Hades, Supergiant Games’ Herculean labor of love that continues to gather up awards and recognition. I’ve lost count of the number of times Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett have brought these songs to life since the game launched, but I’ll happily give some time for another listen.

That said, blood and darkness, was this one launched a little oddly. Rather than be a part of a live broadcast going up for Day of the Devs kickoff or Summer Game Fest’s own broadcast, it simply appeared on YouTube.

More musical performances will be shared leading up to Summer Game Fest’s Day of the Devs pre-show and Kickoff Live
