We are quickly approaching the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO, and Niantic has announced that the anniversary celebrations, as well as Pokémon GO Fest 2021, will take place during the Season of Discovery.
The new season will bring a slew of new updates, including bringing Regice, Regirock, and Registeel back to five-star Raids from Tuesday, June 1st, to Thursday, June 17th. According to the blog post, Raids this season will feature only one Mega-Evolved Pokémon at a time.
There will also be updates to the Pokémon that appear in the wild, such as more Porygon in cities and more Skorupi in forests. Hemisphere-exclusive Pokémon will also be updated, with the Northern Hemisphere getting the Horn starters in the wild, while those in the south get the Sinnoh starters. Additionally, different Pokémon will be appearing in Eggs.
To kick off the season, players can earn a free Remote Raid Pass by completing Research Breakthroughs throughout the month. The breakthroughs will also give twice the XP.
