In 2020, a multiplayer spinoff to the Nintendo Switch launch title Super Bomberman R released exclusively on Google Stadia. Super Bomberman R Online took the explosive gameplay of the original 2017 title and transformed it into an online 64 player battle royale packed with Konami nostalgia. However, that platform exclusive release will be heading back to its earliest home territory soon months after its initial cross-play reveal.

In a surprise announcement from Konami, Super Bomberman R Online will be heading to Switch next week. While the title will be free-to-play, like all other battle royales a purchasable version of the Battle Pass will be available for dedicated players looking to sink some cash into the game for some digital extras. The two-tier Battle Pass system will be split between Silver (free-to-play users) and Gold (paid-for users).

In addition to exceeding the minimum rank level that the standard Silver Battle Pass allows, this paid-for content will give players access to a wide variety of in-game bonus rewards. Each of the game’s future seasons will last three months and bring new items, cosmetics, and a Bomber hero to the mix. The first Bomber Hero to be featured in the Gold Battle Pass will be an Old Snake Bomber skin inspired by the aging protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The Gold Battle Pass will be purchasable in-game for 800 Bomber Coins on launch day.

Super Bomberman R Online will be blasting its way to Nintendo Switch Thursday, May 27th. When the title is available to download we’ll be sure to let you know!
