All of the shared images for Spirit Board and tournament events in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been great in their own way, but there’s something about this latest one. The theme is battering items, that is to say handheld weaponry that change up some of your normal and Smash attacks, and they’re prominent in this promo pic. But it’s who’s holding them and what they’re not holding that really stands out.

It’s like they’ve purposefully gathered up four of the buffest guys they could (and also Wolf) to really emphasize these weapons. While it works for the likes of the Home-Run Bat and Ore Club, how convenient the art left out Lip’s Stick and the Star Rod. These are the real standouts in Smash’s arsenal. After all, who needs a sword when you have magic? With that rationale, don’t be caught with Snake behind you wielding Death’s Scythe…
No matter your weapon of choice, you’ll be able to take them up en masse when this weekend-long battering item tournament begins on May 14th.
