A turned-based fantasy RPG certainly isn’t a new concept, with the genre spanning decades and boasting a wealth of commonly known tropes at this point. However, Jin Conception, an upcoming title from Jin Wave Studio, integrates thriller elements into the well-established gaming category for a new take.

Described on the official Jin Conception website as a “social deduction fantasy thriller turn based JRPG,” the game features eight playable characters with intertwining stories. It’s a game “where you have to figure out who is friend and who is foe,” wherein the player must decide who to trust and determine who is telling the truth or lying. It also features multiple endings.

The trailer emphasizes the game’s combat, with the website promising seamless battle transitions with “no switching screens when combat starts.” A variety of attacks, spells, creatures, and locales are shown off, with the player also able to set traps.

Jin Conception will launch on the Nintendo Switch eShop and Steam on May 12th, 2021.
