Every game has an anniversary, but HAL Laboratory takes care to make the Kirby series’ something a little more. After all, it’s not just a commemoration of Kirby’s Dream Land releasing on the Game Boy; it’s Kirby’s birthday!

In recognition of the pink puffball’s special day, April 27th, a new illustration was shared. It’s all aboard the birthday train with Meta Knight, King Dedede, Bandana Dee, and the Waddle Dee news crew! Of course, these aren’t Kirby’s only friends. Someone else had a sweet treat to share…

Looks like Jobski’s been extra busy lately, baking a birthday cake just for Kirby. Granted, there’s a chance it was meant to be shared, but knowing Kirby it’s due to be inhaled immediately and without restraint. At least the Part Time UFO will always have the memory of making it…

That’s not the only birthday cake Kirby had, though. After all, there’s a whole Café in his honor.

Its Tokyo location may be closed to the public at present, but the Kirby Café wasn’t about to miss a chance to honor its namesake. That delicious looking cake is on the menu and still available at the open Hakata location, so hopefully Kirby’s got some company there.

And how about a little love from HAL itself? Bringing the group illustration and guest appearance from Jobski all together, they’ve got their two heroes front and center in plush form. Maybe Qbby lost his invitation…?

Last of all, we hear from the man who made it happen. Masahiro Sakurai’s debut work was Kirby’s Dream Land, and for his creation’s birthday he’s paid tribute in his latest, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

That does it for Kirby’s 29th birthday celebrations, but with plenty of games on Switch and beyond you can keep the party going today, and every day.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
