I’ve played a lot of games, but I still haven’t experienced something that can compare to Mother 3. That applies not just to the game’s own merits and memories, but the efforts of a dedicated community to make it known and accessible to English audiences as well. It’s why I have Mother 3 merchandise both official and lovingly fan-crafted, and why earlier this week Nintendo of America’s former president got attention just for saying “Mother 3”.
Today though it isn’t just about the past, but the present too. Shared by Hobonichi Mother Project, nine new sprite-based images were shared from the game’s art director. These have the theme of “Behind the Scenes of Mother 3”, presenting the cast as if they were shooting a movie instead of living through some of the strangest and most dire days of their lives.
Plenty of characters from the Nowhere Islands make an appearance. Every party member, their family members, helpful frogs, ironically vivacious ghosts, Pig Masks, chimeras, monkeys, Magypsies, and more all get in on the celebration of this beautiful game and its story.
