The news was given a brief mention deep within an article about the death of Adobe Flash, which greatly impacted Neopets at the end of 2020.
The site, which has seen a decline in traffic since the early 2000s but is still pulling 1.5 million monthly active users, has seen a “challenging” transition away from Flash.
Neopets is a site in which registered users can adopt and care for virtual pets while also playing games and exploring the various lands of “Neopia” — all of which was built in Flash.
After support for Flash was officially killed off at the very end of last year, Neopets has been gradually working through converting its Flash content to HTML5.
