PlatinumGames decided to bring back last year’s April Fools’ joke in a big way. Previously they had shown Sol Cresta, a shoot ’em up successor to both Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta. These classics, currently owned by Hamster, are all about “docking” your ship with upgrades – you have to line the new ships and parts together as they come to upgrade to a stronger ship.

Yesterday, instead of just a concept/tease they brought out a full Sol Cresta trailer. While that dedication would be amusing enough, turns out this revival is real after all.

It’s now April 2nd, and Platinum is confirming this is real. Sol Cresta lives via a partnership with Hamster, with it being the start of the NeoClassic Arcade Series. No further details were provided, beyond platforms and a target release year.

You can look forward to docking Sol Cresta onto your Switch’s home screen later in 2021. It’ll also soar into PS4 and PC via Steam.
