SNK has been adding many a guest character to the latest title in the Samurai Shodown series, ranging from Ubisoft’s For Honor and the company’s own The Last Blade. As part of the Japan Fighter Game Publishers Roundtable #2, though, they decided to rock fans with an even more unexpected crossover.

That's right! GUILTY GEAR is coming to SAMURAI SHODOWN!The 4th spot on the SAMURAI SHODOWN Season Pass 3 roster will go to a character from none other than GUILTY GEAR. DLC launch date to be announced later. Look forward to further announcements. pic.twitter.com/Pbvc0pL9Qf

That’s right, a character from Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear series will be making their way into Samurai Shodown! Considering just how different the two series are (one being slower and grounded in some semblance of bloody realism, the other much faster and practically defined the “anime” sub-genre of fighters) it’s sure to be a unique implementation.
I don’t expect Guilty Gear’s lead Sol Badguy to make an appearance, but a samurai character like Baiken or Johnny could make a heaven or hell worthy impact. Whoever it is, they will be coming as a part of Samurai Shodown’s Season 3 DLC. Also in that lineup is the SamSho character Cham Cham, previously announced but shown off via a dedicated trailer for the first time during the presentation.
She will be available for those who purchase her or the Season 3 pass starting March 16th. She’ll be followed by The Last Blade’s Hibiki Takane, and eventually this Guilty Gear guest character sometime in the future.
