One of Rare’s last projects with Nintendo was the GameCube’s Star Fox Adventures – a surreal game starring Star Fox characters that shared more in common with Zelda than the space-faring action of its source material. That was due to the game effectively being a retooled Nintendo 64 game called Dinosaur Planet that was originally slated to feature original characters.
While we’ve known plenty about the game through a variety of sources for years, this latest revelation is blowing things wide-open. Forest of Illusion has obtained a disc from a private game collector in Sweden containing a build of the Nintendo 64 Dinosaur Planet game dated December 1, 2000.
Today we have released Dinosaur Planet by Rare for Nintendo 64. The development was halted and moved to the GameCube, where it was then released as Star Fox Adventures. Enjoy! (More info in this thread).

You can download the game via the link above but it’s worth noting that there are graphical glitches on every emulator.
As you can see from the screenshots, this was at a point where the game had started to incorporate Star Fox characters but before the move to GameCube. We’re sure to find out more from this discovery in the days to come!
