Mario Golf: Super Rush was a highlight of this week’s Nintendo Direct, bringing back one of the original Mario sports to a home console for the first time since the GameCube. While many of the expected Mushroom Kingdom characters were shown (sporting spiffy new outfits for the links) during the debut trailer, a brand new golfer may’ve been leaked via the game’s eShop page.
Though it’s since been edited to remove any mention of them, Twitter user @SherlockPrower managed to spot and screencap a mention to none other than King Bob-omb! It detailed that the King would be able to scatter bombs around the course in the new Speed Golf mode, impeding others rather than boosting himself. If this is true and not some error on Nintendo’s part, it would be King Bob-omb’s second playable appearance in a Mario game after appearing as a driver in Mario Kart Tour.
Plenty more characters are sure to be revealed and introduced to the series ahead of Mario Golf: Super Rush’s release on June 25th.
