The Max Raid Battle scene is going to be busier than usual this weekend. Announced in-game and on the official Pokémon site, there’s some extra special Wild Area News today. From now until Sunday, January 24th, at 3:59 p.m. PT, Year of the Ox-themed Max Raid Battles are happening!

Out in the wild, the encounter rates for Tauros, Miltank, and Bouffalant in Max Raid Battles have been increased. If you’re extra lucky, you might even come across a shiny Tauros in your raid adventures!

According to the official Pokémon website, make sure you do the following in order to activate these encounters:

For an opportunity to encounter these Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, you’ll need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet through Y-Comm or by selecting Mystery Gift in the X menu, then selecting Get the Wild Area News. After that, whenever you see a pillar of light shining from a Pokémon Den, you can walk up to the Pokémon Den and interact with it to start a Max Raid Battle with a Dynamax Pokémon. This event does not affect the Pokémon encountered within Dynamax Adventures.

Don’t wait too long, as the buffalo- er, ox “related” Pokémon will roam back home before you can say Dynamax.
