Out of the blue, Square Enix has announced a new Switch release – on a weekend, no less. The SaGa series is already very well represented on the platform – with multiple Romancing SaGa entries already available alongside the more recent SaGa Scarlet Grace, not to mention the SaGa Collection that’s releasing in just a matter of weeks. Yet there’s even more to come.

SaGa Frontier first released for the PlayStation back in 1997 and it featured a sprawling adventure across multiple planets with different protagonists, and its new Remaster is offering all of that and them some. The game adds one more playable character, Fuse, who was cut from the original release. Various other unused cutscenes and events have been restored, too, making this something of a Director’s Cut.

Catch the trailer below and prepare for SaGa Frontier’s return in summer, 2021.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
