The Nintendo Switch’s sales success needs no introduction at this point, but how about a new milestone? Per a press release from Nintendo of America, it’s been announced the Switch and Switch Lite’s combined sales for this October numbered 735,926 units – an all-time record for the month.

With 136% growth, it shows the staying power of the Switch and its continued stream of software. For reference, these are the second highest October numbers for any console, bested only by the Wii in 2008 (807,000 units; if you’re curious). This also marks the Switch’s 23rd consecutive month as the best selling video game system, per NPD. That’s 22.5 million units sold in the US and via Nintendo’s own data 63 million worldwide.

Will the launch of the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X and S upset that streak? No way of knowing just yet, but they’ll have competition via the Switch’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe “Black Friday” bundle. Featuring the system, game, and three months of Nintendo Switch Online (individual membership); it will sell for $299.99 starting Sunday, November 22nd.
