While Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a relatively straight-forward port of the classic adventures, it did make some significant changes when it comes to how the games are controlled. Specifically, camera controls and how you aim the FLUDD nozzle were inverted from their original design, as the original control scheme was out of step with the more common orientation in 2020.

Of course many fans wished it was possible to invert things back to their original state, and thankfully Nintendo has been listening, promising a free software update on November 16th that’ll open up the options.

It’s worth noting that there are even shortcut buttons for “Classic” and “Modern” schemes, meaning it’ll be very easy to switch.

You’ll be able to download the free udpate on November 16th.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
