Super Mario Sunshine tried some new things with its storytelling, like its vacation-based plot and voice acting. All of that’s showcased in the game’s opening cutscene (or in-flight movie, as it were) featuring Mario, Peach, and Toadsworth on their way to Isle Delfino.

Above, we have the cutscene as rendered in Super Mario 3D All-Stars, with updated visuals and the same old voiceover. You’ll be able to experience this and the rest of Sunshine (and 64, and Galaxy) when Super Mario 3D All-Stars arrives on September 18th, available for a limited-time.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
