Nintendo released a very special Nintendo Direct all about the 35th anniversary for the Super Mario Bros. franchise today! Despite the video being about 16 minutes long, not everything from the press release made the audiovisual cut or was featured for a few seconds. One of these news blurbs was a tidbit about Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Limited to a single sentence in Nintendo’s press release, it packs enough of a punch for those who loved seeing Nintendo-themed items appear in previous Animal Crossing games: “In March of next year, Super Mario themed furniture will be available in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game.”
In addition to that, we’ve seen various official Nintendo Twitter accounts share various tweets about the 2021 collaboration event. No furniture teases, just a promo banner of the game and franchise’s logos.
