After unlocking various goals during Pokémon GO Fest 2020, the three-week series of Ultra Unlock events are almost over! Yet, Niantic is extending the series a tad longer in response to an error.
The first week in the Ultra Unlock series, Dragon Week, had a slight hiccup for some Trainers. Dragon Week’s Timed Research task disappeared from the “TODAY” tab on the Research menu for some Trainers. Niantic was able to fix the disappearance, but it didn’t work for all Pokémon GO Trainers.
We are aware that a few Trainers are unable to recover the Timed Research even after reinstalling the app. Please stay tuned for details on a make-up Timed Research to be released at a later date (TBD). We apologize for the inconvenience.

To make up for the error, Dragon Week’s Timed Research is coming back, but with some alterations. From the official Pokémon GO blog:
Due to technical issues that occurred during Dragon Week, we’re holding a global makeup event from Friday, August 21, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time.
During this makeup event, all Trainers will be able to access new Timed Research. The rewards for this new Timed Research will be the same as those for the Dragon Week Timed Research, but the tasks will be slightly different. The other features of the Dragon Week event, such as the featured Pokémon appearing in the wild, will not be active during this event.
Provided that the rewards stay the same, that means we’ll have another chance to earn the following reward catches: Dratini, Bagon, Deino (two encounters), and Alolan Exeggutor. Sure, Dragon-type Pokémon won’t be spawning everywhere, but everyone gets a second-GO around, regardless if you experienced the error or not.
Happy hunting, Trainers!
