Headwear matters in the world of Nintendo. Mario’s hat is so essential that sometimes he actually loses health when he isn’t wearing it. Kirby manifests his powers through them. And now, crowns and tiaras are getting their due.

While those two carry royal connotations (and certainly they fit many of those seen in the preview image), regality isn’t a requirement here. So long as a character is wearing a crown, tiara, diadem, circlet, or ornate piece on their dome, they might just make the cut.
