With the announcement of Paper Mario: The Origami King, the official Paper Mario site saw a total overhaul to feature the upcoming Switch game. This includes information on the game’s story and some of Mario’s new abilities. We’ve brought together those images, along with ones from other official sources in the video below:

For one it confirms that Mario’s main partner this time around (à la Kersti and Huey from more recent games) is named Olivia. You’ll be joining up with her, Bowser, and others to take on evil Folded Soldiers under the command of King Olly. As we’ve seen, Princess Peach is under his control as well, which might sound like a serious turn of events, but don’t worry — if what we’ve seen holds up, the series’ comedic writing will be present and accounted for.

As for new skills, Mario will gain the 1,000-Fold Arms ability in the game. This’ll let him stretch his arms out — ARMS-style — to interact with the environment and solve puzzles. It also briefly touches on the ring-based battle system that was seen in the trailer, saying it’ll require puzzle-solving skills alongside other Paper Mario staples.

Paper Mario: The Origami King will come to Switch on July 17th.
