We all may know Nintendo as one of gaming’s powerhouses, the company wasn’t always this successful, or even into gaming at all: in a newly released CNBC video, titled “The Rise of Nintendo,” we get a glimpse at the game Nintendo has played over the past 60-plus years to get to this point today.

The 20 minute CNBC video, seen above, is broken up into seven different sections, each highlighting a unique piece of Nintendo’s history, starting from the early days of playing cards and a taxi venture, to the home console domination of the ’80s, all the way to today’s new investments into the film, Lego, and theme park industries. “The Rise of Nintendo” also highlights the company’s peak in 2009 of net sales, along with the not-so-hot 2012-16 years, with another spike in revenue coming after the Switch’s launch.

Regardless of how you feel about Nintendo, this is a fascinating look inside a company that has bet big on ideas, with not all of them panning out, yet somehow has captured the attention of millions across the world.
