As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to burgeon around the globe, organizations are finding increasingly creative ways to inform the public about the virus. Take the Shanghai police and fire departments, who have used Animal Crossing: New Horizons to communicate steps the public can take to help contain the outbreak.

The public services in Shanghai filmed the videos in Animal Crossing before posting them to Weibo (a popular Chinese social media site). The videos have AC characters dressed in police/firefighter/medical uniforms who detail steps being taken to try and prevent the spread of the virus, and measures the public can use to help out as well.

Hopefully the outside-the-box approach helps spread the message to more people. And hopefully the global crisis will pass with the least pain and heartache possible.
