April Fools’ Day can be tricky when it comes to news. Fake video game announcements can cause laughter, tears, and even a push for the game to become a reality.

WayForward’s April Fool’s Day joke from 2013, Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche, garnered enough traction that the game was made and released for PC in 2016. In 2020, WayForward brought the game back for the “prank” holiday by dropping a Nintendo Switch port. No jokes here: you can purchase the game on the Nintendo eShop for $7.99.

What is Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche all about? It’s another WayForward game where the developer’s humor shines through! Here’s the game description provided by the indie developer:

“Blast everything that moves in this genre-defying action extravaganza! Take control of Kebako, a cat-eared intergalactic bounty hunter, as she patrols the galaxies with her faithful companion Squiddie in search of ridiculous space criminals.

Combining classic 2D shoot-’em-up gameplay and a hilarious story with weapons inspired by game genres such as puzzle, sports, platformer, rhythm, and RPG, this bombastic side-scrolling experience pushes the absurdity meter to its limits and beyond! Prepare for an action-shooter unlike anything you’ve ever played before…just watch out for salad!”

Bon appetit!
