If you’ve been on social media over the past weekend you’ll be well aware that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has already become a phenomenon, and these latest figures from the UK prove just how successful it’s been.

As GameIndustry.biz reports, New Horizons has shifted 3.5 times the number of physical copies New Leaf managed in its opening weekend across the United Kingdom. Not only that, but New Horizon’s launch has been stronger than the entire series combined, including spin-offs.

It has also sold three times the amount of its main March 20 competitor, Doom Eternal, which was the second highest selling game of the week. The only Switch game to have stronger launch sales so far is Pokémon Sword & Shield.

Better yet, all of this isn’t even accounting for potential digital sales. Hopefully Nintendo will let us know how well it did on that front soon enough!

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
