Nintendo’s online services, which includes its Switch, Wii U, and 3DS eShops and multiplayer networks, are temporarily down.

This outage has lasted since at least 1:56 a.m. PT, according to Nintendo’s official network status page.

Engadget suspects it may be due to the worldwide COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak; specifically due to the high number of players staying home from school and work and using Nintendo’s online services.

According to Engadget, both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network had similar strain placed on their servers on March 15th and 16th, respectively, and Steam beat its concurrent user record with a reported 20.3 million players online.

No word yet on when players can expect Nintendo’s online services to be back up, but we’ll let you know when they are.
